The Flood Disaster in 1907. In August 1907, Floodwater Swallowed the Land and People of the Prefecture.
Because of this disaster, floodwater and mudslides came rushing down from the mountains, washing fields and houses away, and countless precious lives were lost.
The exhibits show the floods occurred here in Yamanashi, focusing on the flood disaster in 1907. We offer the chance to learn the relationship between modern society and the natural disasters, and to think about the way for coexistence of people and nature while learning how cruel the disaster was and how people dealt with the forces of nature.
